FAQ


Q. Why is a deposit required?
A. It is our policy to require a deposit on any glass that is being specially ordered or large orders for you.

Q. Is there a standard size or thickness of insulated units for windows and/or patio doors?
A. There is no standard size or thickness for windows or patio doors, the insulated units are specially made to fit your window or door frame.

Q. Do insulated units come with a warranty?
A. Yes, the insulated units come with a warranty unless otherwise noted. The warranty for insulated units is 1 years, and for insulated units with muntin bars or a grid inside the glass is 1 years. The warranty covers seal failure as indicated by moisture buildup between the glass panes. The warranty only covers the cost of a new insulated unit, but does not cover any installation charge. The warranty does not cover glass breakage.

Q. What is the average lead time for insulated units to be produced?
A. The average lead time is 7-10 business days, keep in mind if the unit breaks during production it may take a little longer to get your unit.

Q. Why can’t the “low-e” coating on replacement insulated units be guaranteed to match the “low-e” coating on the existing windows?
A. The “low-e” is not guaranteed to match because there are many different coatings available and not all suppliers or manufacturers carry the same coatings. The coating that is on the existing windows may have also been discontinued or replaced with something similar but not an exact match. We will do our very best to match the new “low-e” coating with the existing coating.

Q. Are all insulated units replaceable?
A. For the most part yes, however we sometimes run into window frames that are glued together around the glass and in that case these units would not be replaceable.

Q. What is the labor rate?
A. Our labor rate is $48.00 per man per hour. The time starts when our technician leaves the shop and stops when the technician returns to the shop.

Q. Are Saturday appointments available for  glass replacements or glass pick up?
A. Yes, arrangements can be made.

Q. Do you give estimates and how much are they?
A. We offer free estimates with most done right over the phone. Just need a few questions answered.

Q. Can you replace only one pane of glass in my double pane window?
A. No, the whole unit needs to be replaced.

Q. What is the different between annealed and tempered glass?
A. Tempered glass is annealed glass that has been heated to a high temperature than quickly cooled making it four times stronger than annealed glass, tempered is considered a safety glass because when tempered is broken it breaks into lots of smaller pieces instead of big shards reducing the chance of a serious cut. Tempered glass cannot be cut or altered once it has been made.

Q. What is the difference between single strength (SSB) and double strength (DSB) glass?
A. Single strength glass is 3/32” thick and is most commonly used in picture frames. Double strength is 1/8” thick and stronger than single strength so can be used in many more applications.

Q. What is a radius corner for glass and mirror?
A. A radius corner means we would round the corner of the glass or mirror instead of having a square corner. This is typically done if there is a chance someone could bump into the square corner and get injured.

Q. Do you rescreen screens? What type of screen materials do you have?
A. Yes, we do rescreen and also build new screens. We offer aluminum screen and fiberglass screen.
